Newham 6th Form College Newvic Careers Fair
On the 6th of March the Royal Albert Dock educational roadshow team were at Newvic Careers Fair. As part of the morning Ann came along and provided info on the M&E installation. Alex our BIM Coordinator came along with VR goggles to give the students a virtual tour of 22 Bishopsgate.
Russell from Thorp Precast came along to talk to the young people about the External construction on Royal Albert Dock and the way that the R C Frame is built and how Thorps panels are installed, and the interaction with other trades on the Royal Albert Site.
The college were so impressed with the way that Russell engaged with the students ,talking about his personal journey into construction that they filmed his story and will use this as a motivational resource to encourage students at the college .
Jane Nugent ,Work Related Curriculum Adviser for the college thanked us for attending, and said after the event ;
‘ I just wanted to say a big thank you to you all for attending the Apprenticeship Fair yesterday. I hope you enjoyed it, I know our students did and gained a great deal more knowledge regarding apprenticeships than they knew before, helping them to decide their future career paths and opening up other avenue’s to them. The students and staff alike were very impressed with your stand and Alex with his BIM set up, which caused a big talking point with the college, from students and adults alike.’
Alex is going to return to the college soon to deliver a CPD session for the college lecturers on BIM so that they can keep up to date with all the latest technology, used in the industry – just one of the ways we support and help local FE providers and future entrants into the industry .
